Alan & I finally made it to Trincomalee...
We made sure that it was OK before we decided on going to Trinco. The presence of security checkpoints was a bit scary at first, but as we are foreigners (and we drove our vehicle) we managed to clear all the checkpoints quite easily with our passports and documents that we had with us. It took us about 5 hours to drive to Trinco, and we settled into our hotel.

Yup, there was no one there. We were the only guests at the hotel, like most other hotels. Thus, the facilities were not properly maintained, services like Ayurvedic treatment was not available, selection for food were (very) basic.

Oh... there were monkeys everywhere near our hotel.

We initially wanted to stay for 2 nights, but there was really nothing and nowhere to explore and so we stayed for one night instead. I was up early and caught the sunrise...
