We finally put together a party for our friends here in Sri Lanka.

These pictures are courtesy of Loyed, as I was busy running around the place and taking care of the pups.

That's Loyed standing in the middle, pictured below. I couldn't have managed without Nadeesha's & Rasika's help too. They are supposedly guests of the party, but they have been helping us out with the cleaning and cooking.

Rasika attempted his first Devilled Prawns dish, it was really yummy.

Shiwantha & his wife travelled from Wattala, & Anton our hairstylist from Pittipana graced the occasion too. They are also our long time friends, with unconditional friendships.

Yes, she was having a really good time and perhaps outperformed the 'girls'.

Last week was probably the BEST time to change some of your Australian notes to US Dollars, as it was about USD 1 = AUD 1.05

The Australian Reserve Bank has announced a 0.25 percentage point interest rate rise to 7.25%. Thus, this good (exchange) rate will not last for long.

Australian Travellers: If you do need to change to USD currency, this is the time.

Singapore currency should remain strong this quarter, and may even continue to appreciate against the USD.

Malaysia Decides: Malaysia goes to poll on 8 March 2008.

Unfortunately, I do not know if this will weaken the MYR currency as foreign investments will be put on hold till the poll results.

Sorry for the long absence... my laptop finally had it, and all my data of 6 years went with it as well.

And NO, I did not back it up.

I am working with a new laptop now, and still trying to get my act together. Thus, my posts/updates have been a bit more sporadic for the last couple of months. Yes, it takes me that long to recover...

I am trying to move on (LoL), so that I can work on organising Alan's 40th party.

Party Venues for Alan’s 40th

Hi folks

Finally get to work on Alan’s 40th this week… My apologies, I have been slack. No other better excuses.

We have decided on the party venues for Alan’s 40th. That’s right, venues!

10 April 2008 (Thursday): Pre-Party at Asta Villa.
Asta Villa is more of a party house and entertainment house for younger folks, some of the facilities include a huge swimming pool, pool table, 2 computers with internet access and much more.

11 April 2008 (Friday): Birthday Party for Alan
The second villa, Atas Ombak is the venue for the actual birthday party on the 11 April 2008. Atas Ombak is a privately-owned mansion, for exclusive parties for the rich and famous.

12 April 2008 (Saturday): Recovery Party at Ku De Ta.
The 3rd party venue for the recovery party on 12 April will be held at the famous Ku De Ta. Whet your tastebuds and check out the website.

We need to confirm the number of guests for the parties so that we can arrange accommodation, catering and ground transportation, so please RSVP ASAP.

Accommodation options will soon follow… once I get the final numbers. So email me quick!!!!

Finally, the end of our Bali holidays... Our first but definitely not the last.

Gathered heaps of info, and visited way too many resorts and villas to host Alan's 40th.

We are satisfied with what we have found, the guys from Bali Friendly has helped a lot. I will post more details when I get back to Sri Lanka.

Having lunch at La Lucciola, facing the beautiful Bali beach. Yudi, GM Of Bali Friendly & Kadek spent the whole morning with us showing various properties in Bali for Alan's 40th. I must say we are very impressed with the accommodations we have seen thus far. And of course, we have shortlisted a couple of venues for the party itself. Will post more pictures from that a little later.

We were lucky that Kadek was still waiting for us at the airport when we got out of the airport late, due to reporting for loss of our baggage. Thanks Kadek!

Anyway, back to food, from the menu (below) it was easy to tell that an Australian chef was in charge of the kitchen. And true enough, it was.

Alan's away in Kuala Lumpur for WACS, and I have too much time on my hands... lol

Sorry everyone...

Instead of holding Alan's 40th party during the Easter weekend (21-24 March),

we will celebrate Alan's 40th on his actual birthdate: 11 April 2008 (Friday).

If anyone has any violent objection to this change, please email us with at least 5 valid reasons why we should not make that change. Otherwise, the party will be on

As for the venue, you will need to vote for your preferred destination. From now until 15 September 2007, you can participate by voting in the poll found on the left sidebar of my blog.
