"Operation Botanico"

The flowers & plants have been in the garden. Not planted.

The granites and the clay when we first moved in were unfavourable to grow anything.

Thus, I have removed the granites and a portion of the topsoil (clay actually) at the expense of my delicate (useless) lower back. Not surprisingly, I got a sore back.

Anyway, it is 95% completed and I am happy with the arrangement. 

I needed the garden to look fabulous not only from outside & inside the fence, but also from the top (our bedroom verandah).

Now, I need a massage therapy session.

I totally love this feature wall that we now have in our lounge room. Lee, our brother-in-law, spent the whole Sunday painting 3 walls (Lounge, Dining & Master Room) for us. Really generous and kind of him. Thank You!

We called it the Dalai Lama RED...

Alan & I were so happy with the effect.

We are happy that we are on the North-East Line, and for Alan to get to work is only 15 minutes of train ride. And being only 400 metres from Boon Keng Station, we only need to walk some 6 minutes.

I am already loving our new home.

We need a ceiling fan in our room, and we were not happy with a wall-mounted fan. The false ceiling created a bit of drama, and not many contractors were willing to undertake the job. The room usuable height is 12 feet. Initial talk with a couple of contractors indicated that there would be the breaking of false ceiling plaster, and a wood structure to support the fan. 

Oh boy... was I glad to have changed the contractor. The next contractor came in a group of 3, and noticed the skylight panel and went on into the false ceiling gap, pinpoint the beam to drill the bracket...

Within 30 minutes, the whole job was completed. The trio worked well together I must say.

Finally, after 10 days of drama, we have a ceiling fan in our room. 

I am sure we will sleep well tonight... 

Zzzzz

The new set of sofa we ordered was delivered today. If you haven't known me well enough, I was surprised with the impulse buy - unOtoko, that's all I can say.

And Alan bought me the arched lamp, another impulse buy in the same shop.

I couldn't believe I agreed to 3 items in less than an hour.

But then again, they were great buys.  :)

We spent Sunday looking for flowers & plants for our front garden. Not a huge space, just 2 lots of 1350mm by 1100mm. Yes, I used to complain that I had a huge garden that I couldn't manage. Now, I have a mini-garden that I can't grow whatever I like.  :(

I am trying to let the plants get used to the sunlight and their new place, before I plant them in a few days' time. 

I will be adding Heliconia, Rostrata, Red Carribea, and perhaps more orchids... 

if Rasika manages to pick up a few for Alan when he goes back to Sri lanka this weekend.
